Cayfords Butchers is the new title sponsor of Saturday’s Upton Noble Beer & Music Festival (2 September). The sponsorship was announced at a lottery ceremony, held at The Three Horseshoes Inn in Batcombe — the closest pub to the village of Upton Noble — with the company’s name drawn out of a branded beer glass by publican Kav Javvi.

Cayfords Butchers is a family firm established more than a century ago and based in Frome.

“Cayfords is a really worthy winner of title sponsorship of the Saturday of our Beer Festival,” said chairman Dan Hurring. “We have a vast array of backers this year, as we do every year, and any one of them would have deserved to have their profile raised in this way. We can’t say a big enough thank you to all the companies and individuals who make this festival the success that it has become year on year.”

Adrian Cayford  of Cayfords Butchers said: “I can’t believe we’ve been selected in the lottery. We’ve been behind the Upton Noble Beer Festival since its first year [in 2015] and to be able to brand such a popular event is fantastic. The news has made my day.”

This year’s Upton Noble Beer & Music Festival will offer unrivalled music, with headline act The Carny Villains, and the best selection to date of ciders and beers, including Goat’s Milk, from Churchend Brewery, recently voted Champion Beer Of Britain 2017 and donated by The Three Horseshoes Inn. More Wine will be offering wine for sale and there will be a mocktail bar for those who have to drive home. Additionally, there will be entertainment for all ages, plus a community picnic run thanks to a significant grant awarded by the Celebrate England Fund.

With the picnic hosted between 12-2pm, Saturday’s Beer & Music Festival kicks off at 2.30pm, with music from the likes of Rodney Branigan, The Johnsons and Boudica Boogaloo, as well as The Carny Villains. Bathampton’s Morris Men will be joining in the fun, while award-winning DJ Chris Tofu, plus Will White and others, will provide the music between the live acts. There will also be live music playing during Friday evening’s ‘pub night’, held between 7-11.30pm in Upton Noble Village Hall. Entry is free on Friday.

The event has also secured a major sponsorship in the form of the branding of its pint glasses from North Brewham-based sand and aggregate merchant RH & AJ Bateman.
