UPTON Noble Beer Festival committee is launching its own brand cider on Good Friday (25 March) in a fun-filled evening at the Village Hall. There will be ‘scrumpy and western’ style music from a Somerset band, along with a DJ, scrumptuous food from Upton Nibbles, the village’s renowned band of local cooks, along with a pop-up garden bar provided by More Wine, the village’s own wine distributor.

There will also be plenty of homespun cider to enjoy. Called Uptonogood, the 1,800 bottles are the result of a village collaboration which began last autumn when Upton Noble villagers collected 61 sacks of apples from their own and their neighbours’ gardens and orchards. This has now been processed by Branded Drinks in Coleford, Gloucester, which filtered and then pastuerised the cider before bottling and labeling it.

John White of Millwhites Cider, a Beer Festival committee member who organised the apple collection, said: “This has been a really exciting new venture for the village. After the Beer Festival, it just seemed like the natural thing to try.”

UptoNoGood Cider even boasts its own specially-designed label, while all proceeds from the venture will be spent in the village on good causes.

The launch evening begans at 7.30pm and goes on until late. Entry is £4.
